PRESS RELEASE
(For immediate release)
HUNGER STRIKE AND RALLY TO SUPPORT FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT IN VIETNAM
Washington - Vietnamese American Communities in Northeastern Region will hold a hunger strike in front of White House beginning at noon on Friday, April 1st, 2011 to protest against harsh crackdowns on dissidents by Vietnamese Communist Government resulting in self-immolation of Pham Thanh Son, an engineer in Da Nang, Vietnam.
This event will be followed by a big rally at the same place at 1 pm on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011 by the communities for strongly supporting freedom and democratic movement in Vietnam.
Participants in these above events are not only Vietnamese Americans in Washington Metropolitan Area, but also from other states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Inspired by Freedom and Democracy movements from North Africa, Middle East, to Asia, people in Vietnam - especially students - have recently risen up to demand the Vietnamese Communist Government to return their lands, and to more broadly win back their fundamental freedoms that have been deprived for many years by treasonable, dictatorial and corrupt Communist Collective.
